Women Environmental Entrepreneurship Program (WEEP)
Women already run Tanzania’s businesses. WEEP helps them grow green ones.
WEEP is Grina Foundation’s programme for women entrepreneurs of all ages who are building green businesses in Tanzania. It supports women running startups, small businesses and micro businesses to build skills, become investment-ready and access finance.
Why WEEP matters.
IFC’s 2023 Finance2Equal report estimates that women own 54% of Tanzania’s micro, small and medium enterprises and reports a women’s MSME finance gap of TZS 3.9 trillion, about USD 1.7 billion.
That gap holds back businesses, households and local economies. WEEP builds the skills, networks and finance-readiness that help women-led green businesses grow, hire and attract funding.
